Limassol Old Town: A Local's Guide

Limassol Old Town is the historic heart of Cyprus's second-largest city — a walkable grid of narrow streets between the medieval castle, the Old Port and the seafront. Here is what our guests enjoy most, all within walking distance of Limassol Heritage.

What to see

  • Limassol Castle — medieval castle housing the Cyprus Medieval Museum.
  • Molos promenade — seafront park with sculptures, playgrounds and cycling paths, ideal for sunset walks.
  • Old Port and Limassol Marina — restaurants, yachts and evening strolls.
  • Agia Napa Cathedral and the Grand Mosque (Kebir) — two landmarks a few streets apart.
  • Municipal Market — historic covered market with local produce and cafés.

Where to eat and drink

The streets around Saripolou Square and the castle are full of tavernas, meze restaurants, wine bars and cafés. Try a full Cypriot meze, fresh fish near the Old Port, halloumi and souvlaki, and a Cyprus coffee or frappé in the morning.

Beaches

The nearest sea access is by the Molos, about 3 minutes from the house. For sandy beaches with sunbeds, head east along the coast towards Dasoudi or the tourist area, or west to Lady's Mile.

Getting around

The Old Town is best explored on foot. City buses run along the seafront, and there are airport shuttle buses to Larnaca and Paphos airports. A car is useful for day trips to the Troodos mountains, Kourion and Omodos village.

Where to stay in Limassol Old Town

Old Town suits travellers who want to walk everywhere and live among historic streets rather than in a resort. Limassol Heritage is a boutique hotel with 8 private studios in a restored historic house, 150 m from the sea — for short breaks, monthly stays, families and groups.
