Day Trips from Limassol: Troodos, Omodos, Kourion and More
Limassol sits in the middle of Cyprus's south coast, so most of the island's highlights are within an hour's drive. These are the day trips our guests enjoy most — driving times are approximate from the Old Town.
Under 30 minutes
- Kolossi Castle (about 15 min) — a medieval Crusader castle among vineyards.
- Kourion (about 20–25 min) — Greco-Roman city with a clifftop theatre and mosaics above the sea; combine with Kourion beach.
- Amathus (about 10–15 min east) — ancient city ruins right by the coast road.
30–60 minutes
- Omodos (about 40 min) — wine village with a cobbled square and monastery; many wineries on the way.
- Troodos mountains (about 1 hour) — pine forests, nature trails, painted Byzantine churches (UNESCO) and cooler air in summer. From January to March there is often snow and skiing on Mount Olympus — see our guide to Limassol in winter.
- Aphrodite's Rock / Petra tou Romiou (about 40 min west) — the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite.
- Lefkara (about 40–50 min east) — village famous for lace and silverwork.
- Paphos (about 50 min) — harbour, Tombs of the Kings and archaeological park (UNESCO).
Tips
- A rental car gives the most freedom; organised tours also leave from Limassol.
- In summer start early — mountain roads and archaeological sites get hot by midday.
- Back in the Old Town by evening for dinner — tavernas are a few minutes' walk from the house.
